Me and my bf went out earlier and decided to try everything we could think of.
Tried jumping her again, took the [black] spark plugs out to look at them - obviously cleaned them.
Also tried rocking her back and forth in first. Wheels are seized though and she's declared off road so I couldn't try rolling her down my hill!!!
All in all though, my oil smells like petrol.
Something tells me that this isn't a good thing...
:'( :'( :'( :'(
Comments, reassurance and help please. She's my baby and I dont want to give my Mum any reason to make me get rid of her!
Pleeeeeeeeeease help.

Jenn xx

It sounds like it is just majorly over fueling. Do you have a Haynes as this will tell you how to adjust the Air/Fuel mixture using a nut/screw on the carb.

That would be my first port of call

First thing that pops into my mind is these black spark plugs ..... given the smell of petrol in the oil etc... I'd say it sounds like your piston rings are kaput and are letting oil into the combustion chamber and petrol into the oil.

However it could indeed just be overly rich, causing massive carbon build up on the plugs. Petrol is a very strong smell, are you sure the oil smells of it?...

Are you getting through much oil at all?...

The oil is up to the Maximum mark as it has been since it was filled... if that helps...

Yes, I am sure that the oil smells of petrol. Two of us have confirmed it. Sorry, didn't take note of that question first!

Check for major petrol in the oil. Pull the dipstick out and try to light it. If it goes up quick then the oil is full of petrol.

BA - Makes sense. Will probably try that.

Bungle, m'dear - you seem to know what you're on about! The level on the dipstick is at the max mark and no, I didn't put new petrol in. I was trying everything else first.

For gods sake be careful if you do that! Gotta be a less hazardous way to test.....
