I would say so.

Have a look at the Alarm ECU on the bulkhead behind the dash. If its a genuine factory fit alarm/Imobiliser it will have a white sticker on it. there will be a leter in a circle on the white sticker. If there is nothing on the black box, then any alarm on the car is not factory fit.

This is one area that I am a little grey on, and can only go on educated guess. I was originaly looking for a matched ECU set but again theres not many about because of peoples ignorance that they are matched, when they sell them, and when they do the price is silly. The thing with my car is that there is no alarm, just the black box. I would have to ad all the other switches to get it to work right. Bounces car is of 95/96 origin. Your car is 95. There is no reason that by fitting the Alarm ECU, Engine ECU and using the matched key fobs that wont work as long as the wiring is the same, no reason why it shouldnt be. Plug them in and away you go.

Does your car have the multi blade, main fuse box in the engine compartment?

Did you know the Cooper SPI is the fastest ever production mini (excluding the ERA)

'Fastest' meaning what, top speed? Surely an old Cooper S is faster!?

I used to have an SPi Cooper, and I must say I'm glad to see the back of injection/ECU's etc.

Yes an original 1275cc engined Mini Cooper S was the fastest standard Mini from the factory for top speed and acceleration prior to the ERA Mini Turbo.

But the ERA Mini Turbo wasn't kitted out at Longbridge anyway and was more of a specialist job?

Gents, after searching for Spi cooper ecu information, I think that it is time to ask for opinion here.

I am driving '96 Spi cooper (japanese spec) having engine 12A2EJ02 and it is equippped with ecu MNE101060 single socket (as per Rover's information, it is for Spi automatic)

The only thing that I can think of why this happened is it got swapped by the previous owner for some reason!! :)

I have planned to overhaul the engine soon by enlarge engine capacity to 1293 or 1310 cc and will also put Kent MD274 (possibly, 274sp), stage 2 or 3 head, 1.5:1 rocker, duplex chain, and other necessary stuff.

I am just curious whether MNE101060 will be okay with these modification. If not, I shall try to get 101070 in order to make use of these mod as much as I can; otherwise, it will be a waste of money for such modification.

Appreciate for any inputs here. Thanks.
;)

Hate to drag a thread out of the dregs of time, but i feel my question is most appropriate for this thread.
I have a 1995 spi, and there is an uncoded, cooper ecu being offerred to me, do i need the alarm box from the cooper as well?
Would save me some brass if not :)
Cheers!

EDIT: Oh, and my ecu and alarm/immob are coded!
