I'm doing my rear subframe tommorow ad need to work safely(ish) under the back of the car.......

I have a large slab of concrete in the back garden with a 12 inch step in to the garden so im planning to reverse off of the slab on to some blocks, jacking up the centre of the car and using axle stands and timber to hold it then removing the blocks..... i should then be able to remove the subrame... right????

Move the timber and axle stands further back, so that the car is supported just in front of the rear subframe. This is the strongest area, and will support the full weight of the car...

Yes, the timber as far back as possible. The strongest area of anything is near a corner or bend. Spread the load as much as you can, perhaps use more wooden supports.

Mrs biggav wouldn't let me!!! :shifty:

I have 3 spare alley cats with tyres and i used them underneath the car to spread the weight over a larger area. Feeling a bit shakey though and the doc has given me diazepam to counteract the anxiety that the anti depressants are causing so things are going a bit slowly... plus the kids are off school sick so i'm being called in the house every 5 minutes!!!

I hadn't really planned to start this so soon so still have a full tank of bp ultimate which i'm siphoning out in a mo.

Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, i have the Laptop in the boot of the car so i'm working on the car and on TMF at the same time!!!!
I'm taking loads of photos of this so that anyone else doing rear beam and coil overs have an idea of What not to do!!!!

Got back from Hospital just after 4pm and had to go out for kids parents evening at 5 :D

All the subframe bolts are out, handbrake cable disconnected... its still under the car as i couldn't get the brake tee piece apart (more plus gas!!!) and i haven't taken the shocks out yet :D the radius arms have axle stands under them and if i find my haynes manual, things may hopefuly get somwhere in the morning.

Going to take my drugs and have a good nights sleep. :dontgetit:
