I was speaking to some one last night and got chatting and he said when they built the auto series engine they put cooper head and cam on them to give them that extra power to go! but im not sure on this and was wondering if this is true or if its not?

Not actually sure, but the early auto's did run a higher compression ratio to the std 998, so maybe some evidence to support the argument.. ??
ooh.. additional,
they also were fitted with the HS4, while 998's were still being fitted with the HS2.
Later 998's, say mk4 on, are pretty much all the same looking at the tuning data, whether Auto or Manual.

i too have heard this roumor a long while ago from a tuning guru of sorts, also heard the 1300 autos had a kent 266cam to make up for the drag of the auto box!
