thanks everyone... the car is in the garage... gave it a hug this morning before leaving for work

my seat extenders should be here tomorrow... as well as some bonnet stripes, a car cover, and a steering drop bracket just in case..

I wish there was a way to raise the steering column instead of dropping it...

I might add a Sparco Extreme 2 steering wheel... it's got a flat bottom.... just like me

I ordered the seat extensions and the steering drop bracket and they haven't gotten here yet.... and today was the first day my wife and I took the mini out (drove it to work... she drove)
and the first time I was able to give it a proper once-over... and guess what.... it already has the seat extenders and the drop bracket installed... I have two more inches of travel to move the seat... and I can raise the steering wheel

my question is... do you have to loosen the U-bolts to raise the steering back up and remove the drop bracket?... I know you have to loosen the U-bolts to lower the steering....

Thanks

yes, you have to loosen the bolts that hold the steering rack, when moving it in any direction, as your changing the angle.

and 4th'd im 6ft1 and can drive a standard mini with "flat" seats!! the gear stick hit my leg in reverse tho!

in my mini i have bucket seats and have them behind the cross member ^_^ and have lengthened the steering column by 3.5" and bent the gear stick back so its closer to me.

i don't think height is really and issue in minis, there so easy to mod, you can tailor them to your needs!!

And welcome to the forum :D nice car !

Dave

Thanks Dave...

right now I have the seat extenders mounted upside down so that I can place the seat another 2 inches back... the shifter still hits the side of my leg but at least i can drive it... drove it all weekend and it's a blast... My car is Left-hand drive so the shifter hits my leg in first and second gear.... but I can live with it .....maybe I'll put a little bend in the stick so it's away from me a bit

my brakes are soft though.... I have to push near the floor and there stll isn't enough power to lock the wheels/ emergency stop... anybody have any clues as to what could be the problem?

and Dave... how did you lengthen the steering column?
