Could be the release bearing has fallen apart. Or as said above the plunger (input shaft?? :ermm: ) is siezed.

Cheers Dan , looks like i need to get stuck into it.

The last time I came across this symptom it was the master cylinder (but you've replaced that), but there's an easy way to check if it is still that...

First thing to check is, is the clutch arm under load from the slave (ie there's hydralic pressure), if not then ignore the hydraulics...

If it is, then release the pressure by undoing the slave bleed nipple (fluid may spurt out)... tighten the nipple and then go press the clutch pedal repeatedly, if it goes hard and stops moving, it's the master which is not letting the built up pressure back into the resevoir.... or there is not enough pressure in the clutch spring to push it back...

Are the throw-out stop nuts wound in preventing the arm from moving..

Many thanks for getting back to me. i will act on your sugestions and let you know how i get on.
Thanks again , Trev

Just been out and had a look at the throw out stop. Its been stood since it went hard a week ago. With the engine off i could move the pedal in and out and work all the gears . I sprayed WD 40 on the throw out stop.
Then i started her up and the pedal went solid imediatly. Does any know what i should try next , i`m stumped.

You should try not spraying oil onto your clutch release mechanism for two reasons. It will migrate onto the friction surface and contaminate it and WD40 is a solvent which will wash the grease out of the clutch release bearing when it get's through to it. That stuff causes far more problems than it solves! The release mechanism should be lubricated with carbon grease (Graphogen or similar) because that burns off if it gets onto the clutch plate.

Sounds more and more like a failed release bearing to me. I think you need to have it apart at this point and investigate. If it works with the engine off it should work with it running. That is if it was indeed working with the engine off. You can always change gears with the engine off even without the clutch, you sure it was working?
