When a few of us were looking around the musuem at the 'Ring on last years BH2N me and Tom (Minis84) both commented on the fact that a couple of the big touring car and F1 engines they have there would probably actually fit in the back of a mini!

Yeah, those engines were a decent size, they'd fit in a Mini really well! All those nice carbon fibre inlet tracts and polished rocker covers would look really good, not quite sure on the budget you'd need though.
But imagine how a Mini would sound with an F1 engine in.......

how do you move 2300 tons of engine out of the workshop and into the ship?

With a standard forklift of course
Nah, they would build the engine, and then dismantle it, take it to dry dock, and re assemble inside the ship before the rest of the super structure is built.

my dad used to work on these engines, he rekons when the valves get coked up you go inside the bores with an angle grinder and they manually wind the crank round with you inside and you stand in the bore and grinding all the soot off the valves!!! imagine that! standing in a bore the size of a mini! going slowly upwards, hoping the guys are watching what they are doing!!
