Got the car on wheels today, just some 10" steels util the rose petals are ready.

Got round to cutting the hole in the bullkhead for the mk1 heater air intake tube this afternoon

used a template off a mk1 shell to ensure I put it in the correct postion

Stunning. Bit of a random question, but, seeing as your using what looks like all new/re'cond components and all new nuts and bolts - does everything go together nicely? and i bet ur hands arn't black after a days work either ^_^

wish i could afford to build one like this :D

So far its all gone together suprisingly well, like you say it helps with everything being clean and using new nuts and bolts

Got some bits from minispares today, headlamp bowls, headlamps, front indicators, rear lamps, numberplate lamp, wiper motor, wheel boxes, cable etc.

Got my refurb'd mk1 heater this morning, also recently got a complete mk1 steering column, will post pics this evening.

Column fitted in car, managed to get a mk1 cooper column bracket as well

Just a quick question. How are you registering this? Only it seems like you are using all brand new or re con bits so should it not be a brand new car????

As long as original part are being used recon or not from the mk1 car like the engine, subframes and maybe the brakes the the car can keeps its historic status or you can apply for a new identity making it a kit car with a Q plate (I think)lol
