^_^ Ok, so i found my dream car, a 1993 sportspack 1275 in good condition, 13" wheels, leather interior, cobra seats, aloy furnishings etc....

Was owned by a mini mechanical specialist in ireland, ran great well looked after... you get the idea.

last week the steering rack went on it. both the steering colum and the rack.

i identified this as the threads on the end of the colum were sheared off so i replaced the colum, now the stearing is still grinding. i have started to try to free the rack to replace it but cant get enough play to free the u-bolts to remove the rack.

Has anyone any advice as this is becoming a lack of sleep.

cheers (5.39am)

To replace the steering rack you need to drop the front subframe about 2 inches. Also, as it's a sportpack, make sure you get a sportpack steering rack..
