Does this adhere correctly to the vinyl, and leave a nice effect ? as if the vinyl was originally that colour ?

there is a place that do these but i don't know what they are called.

i think they are from the Birmingham area and are at most of the midlands shows.

i would be surprised if their not at stoneleigh (and peed off because i want something from them)

EDIT: actually looking at the pic closely i think that is one of their top rails, you can tell from the twin lines of stitching near the middle.

All dash rail covers have always had that stiching in them, including the original Rover ones. Coloured dash rails are generally just coloured leather or vinyl covers that you fit over the top of the vinyl original and I think they really add a touch of quality over the standard item. Every now and then a batch of original Rover covers turns up at Mini Sport or Mega Mini but only in the original classic leather trim colours. There have been several compaines doing them at shows over the years such as Autotrim or DH Holdings, in many more colours. It is really hard work to get a good quality finish with vinyl paint and the covers look much better.

No only later Mini models got the stitching (from the Twin-Points so 1996 onwards?) and my 90' Mainstream hasn't got it.

The Mainstream didn't have a leather top dash rail cover did it? No Mini did as standard but any Mini that had the optional leather top dash rail had stiching to the same pattern. It's not a quirky design, it's how you stitch leather. The standard rail doesn't have what is meant by a cover, although it is covered in vinyl it's just the basic part that comes in one piece.

Actually the Paul Smith may have had a different pattern I think but similar.

It's still something that came in later in the Minis production life and my niece had it on her 98' Mini Paul Smith LE as standard.

Yes leather trim was standard on the Paul Smith. And any other Mini that had full leather trim whether standard or optional had a similar thing but nobody ever said the stitching would be there on the normal standard vinyl dash rail. I said all dash rail COVERS. That's the leather bit that covers the standard part when leather is fitted and is what this thread is about. Even the very last Minis came with vinyl dash rails unless you specified leather or it was a special edition.

Sorry, short fuse tonight.
