I'm in the market for a new welder as the one I have is too powerful on the lowest setting and is gonna blow whats left of the mini away!
Just wondered what the popular choice is for fixing your mini's up with. Also if anyones got one for sale or know a good place I'm interested.

cheers...

What spec type welder do you have now? even shipyard welders can run down to 30amps which is easily low enough for thin plate

Cheers

I have a Wolf 130 Gasless at the moment which although not the easiest thing to weld with I've done ok but its min amps is 60!!

I dont want to spend more time filling hoes than welding. I have been looking at the clarke 90 pro, which isn't very powerful but is goes down to 25amps. So I reckon if I have both welders I'll have all base's covered.

I'm also looking for a welder but is it best to go for a gas-less one?

Speaking from experience for a beginner I'd say start with a gas welder and don't be cheap like me. You get what you pay for so I'd say buy a branded one. I will be second time around, although saying this my Wolf gasless one works fine but it takes a bit of the enjoyment out of it.

Aye, apparently Clarke welders are quite good. Or look out for Cebora too.

Don't bother with gasless, in fact some MIGs can do both.

I got a Sip 150 Turbo which has done me ok from 1mm thick to 3mm so far.
