both bodies (two design teams) are getting made this year, so thats the one gtting raced in Italy!

the other one (the ugly one (i would say that its the other team haha)) is getting raced at Silverstone.

haha not my fault formula student regulations make a chassis looking like that!

Its a funny shaped car to have to design, its got a long nose and a short wheel base so making it look good is a challenge! Im confided we have done well considering what proportions we had to design with!

and lets be honest...you cant get more 'race car' that a single seater can you??

How did I get on my course?? Or engineering??

If you mean mine, I did art and design at college and applied!

Bit of an old topic, but i'm first year motorsport at cov and been doing small c.w projects on this car, bodyworks quality good work on that, not sure how well it'll do this year in the hands of the second years, my encounters of them have made me somewhat worried

(cough) Loughborough (cough)

Anyway, uni courses through UCAS once you've done suitable A-Levels, and then join Formula Student team.

Make sure the uni is a relatively good one though, Coventry, Loughborough, Sheffield, Warwick, (I think), etc are some of the better ones, though a few more do courses with Auto. Engineering you want a good uni'!

I did FS at Liverpool uni as my final year project...

Its really hard work but really worth it! Because of it I now have a job at a well know maker of Mini Parts designing things... the best bit is having to test them out on my Mini! woo!

ive applied to do auto engineering year after next (gap year) but not sure if uni is exactly what i want to do.
first choice is sussex tho. the facilities look pretty good but i have a feeling the forumla student is a bit bollo!
other unis applied to are brighton (eng is supposed to be good and up and coming), Brunel, City of London, and loughborough. ive only just heard from loughborough and the auto eng course didnt want me but strangly auto design and materials or something got hold of my application and offered me a place. not sure thats the course id like to do tho. i like getting my hands dirty with engines not playing around with plastic trying to make a dashboard

Well you'll find an 'engineering degree' has very limited opportunities to get your hands dirty. Primarily it will be maths and computer based stuff... Which is why i did FS- to get a chance to do something really and dirty!!

Just because you do a fairly clean degree doesnt mean you have to go into a desk job though! I get my hands dirty daily and love it!

Er...

Top end bike engines, pretty much no weight, and slicks... They're race enough thanks. Liverpool would have done pretty well last year if some idiot hadn't messed around with the wiring loom. Our Triumph engine was running SWEEEEETTTTTTTT!
