Before i get it rolling roaded (and the geometry set) i am considering fitting an updated Diz/ electric/electronic.. whatever ignition system. I have considered a megajolt but haven't got the time to get the engine out to fit the crank sensor.
What alternatives are there???

I recently had a torrid time with electronic ignition. Changed the coil, changed the module, made sure I was using a non-ballast wire. Did the timing several times. new battery. Burnt out a ignition lead after trying to start it that many times. Changed back to points, started first time!
I'm sure others have had better luck!

That said, i seem to have installed my nitrous correctly... but it feels like someone is sitting in the back seat trying to pull my head off my shoulders when it goes off.

As you may know, i have a very modified car with 1380 stage 4 with nitrous oxide and the only thing that i have done nothing with is the ignition. it is still on the original distributor and to be honest, i haven't read that part of the haynes manual yet......

You can fiddle the crank sensor in without taking the engine out. If you get a kit from Specialist Components like I have (like this) you could fit it with the engine in situ. All you need to do is take the centr
The conversion will cost you IRO £300 depending on how much you are willing to do yourself.
All you need to do is.........
Remove crank pulley bolt, fit trigger wheel and boss supplied in kit, refit extended pulley bolt, align trigger wheel with TDC, fit pickup bracket, fit pickup, wire it all up................... easy as that!

I wouldn't have thought you'd need to take the engine out to fit a crank sensor, you should be able to do it with the grille off, but ask someone like AlexF or MiniMadMe.

I've also heard that often, it's easier to just stick with points. To be honest, if they're clean and mainatined well... they'll always perform faultlessley, But i got my Leccy kit cheap.. so i'll fit it. Not bothered if it doesn't work because I'll just use points.
