Had a poo day today aswell, after getting the engine all back together and running fine. i went to get changed out of me oily's so i could go for a test drive, came back to the car with a big puddle of oil under it. not impressed.
turbo oil feed was leaking like a *Female doggy*, turns out the banjo bolt is threaded. So now i'm running the car n/a with an old lcb on it, its

as for making a bracket i dont think it would be possible really as you need to make it up on the car as you go along. thats the trouble with turbo conversions, no 2 are the same unfortunately.

Had a bit of a gearbox explosion back in Dec '07 2 weeks after being made redundant, so retired the mini from daily service and used my redundancy money to buy a daily hack. Now i'm finally in a position to be able to start spending on the mini again so it's full steam ahead.
got myself a new SC box last weekend without a diff fitted, agreed to buy a Quaiffe LSD from a chap on here and hopefully picking it up tomorrow.
Picked up an ebay bargain the other week, brand new GT series turbo that wil_h recommended me to go for ages ago (cheers for for the advice mate) which will be mounted on my metro manifold. Laser cutting company round the corner from work are also making me a turbine flange and a couple of steel gaskets so i can set about making a new elbow. Was going to go for 2.5" piping but seeing as i still have the gear linkage under the car i'll have to stick with 2" for now.
My engine had been sat in the corner of the garage since 07 so me and kean dragged it onto the bench in the week to pop the bearing caps off and have a look at the shells and they all look perfect which was a nice surprise. Also means i didn't have to remove the crank so haven't had to re-do the cam timing or remove the head (no worries about it possibly being one the current dodgy gaskets thankfully!).
got a nice little list now though of all the major things i need to sort out over the next couple of weeks.
Make oil drain
make turbo elbow
mod oil feed pipe
make a subby for the bucket seat
get an MOT
get a set of S brakes
few little bits to tart up the outside of the car (paint wheels, nitromors grille)
Plan is to have it up and running with time to iron out any bugs before the turbominis RR/drag day day in October and get it up the 1/4 to give me a starting point before i start lightening it over winter ready for next season.
Gave the engine a quick clean with some brake cleaner and a rag, can't be arsed to repaint it all as it'll be coming back out over the winter.

the new Turbo, should be good for over 20psi and be more efficient than my old one.

Getting it mounted on the manifold to start making the oil drain

sits pretty similar to the old T2 just with a different turbine flange so have got to make up another downpipe when my bits from the laser cutter arrive.

The old/new T2 has gone to GinoR32 on here, it was a lovely turbo for the road and for 15psi but i want more power and i don't need road manners anymore.
Got a bit done so far this weekend, oil drain is made, oil feed pipe is sorted courtesy of Listers Motorsport in West Brom and a bargain at £20.
Picked up the LSD earlier this afternoon and got that fitted just need to pop to me mates tomorrow and pick up a couple more shims so i can set the preload properly.
Will drop the engine back in tomorrow afternoon possibly once i've cleaned up the subframe/engine bay. then it's just a case of waiting for my turbine flange from the laser cutters so i can make a downpipe, got the exhaust bends and clamps ready for it.

Got the wastegate tag cut and rewelded on the turbo so it points the right way. Took the grinder to my manifold and adapter plate to give me some clearance round the compressor outlet pipe so i can get a silicone hose on there. got the LSD shimmed up and fitted into the case. fitted a new timing chain and got the timing cover etc back on. Plugged up my speedo drive hole as it doesn't get used. Engine bay and subframe have been degreased, might paint the engine bay if i can find an old tin of red on the garage shelf tomorrow.
Not in a rush to drop the engine in yet so will do it one of the nights in the week more than likely.
mmmmmmm
