Did all mini's with discs have Ap-racing calipers as standard??

hi guys.. quick question's

im trying to do a uni project and just need to know how long did Ap make calipers for the mini??

was it when they where first intorduced in 84 (ish??) to 2001??

and did the design change at all??

Yeah, i think they all did. i know mine are :thumbsup:
although saying that, wasn't unipart on commission making calipers for BL, or am i thinking of someone else?

did BL mini's ever have calipers?? i thought austin brought them in.. in the 80's? .. wheres anorak and taffy when you need them!! lol

well i have to admit that i wouldn't be surprised if someone told me different on this one but...

as far as i know all the front callipers are the same from 84 onwards but im not sure if the ERA turbo had uprated ones.

only one type listed at mini spares !!!

Decent brakes i suppose or they got them in bulk for next to nothing.

IIRC the ERA used the Metro vented/4pot setup.

Disc brakes were standardised 84 onwards. I think they were the same calliper until production ended.

The calipers are made by AP. Where does it say 'Racing' on the caliper?

AP Racing is a sub group of AP, and manufactures specialist brake and clutch components.

yep was just about to say this, calipers were definately AP, i have set infront of me,... but AP racing?... certainly not.

ah i didnt realise that they were different.. so did AP just make the road going components?... like that which are fitted to most disc brake minis.

AP stands for Associated Products, they made alot of the mini's braking and clutch components, all mini's post 84 had AP 2 Pot calipers apart from the ERA Turbo which used the AP 4 Pot's from the MG Metro Turbo!! AP Racing (or APR) where originally a sub division and are now a completely different company which is based in America I believe

Another Vote for AP calipers throughout.

I had an 82 Mayfair with AP`s up front, And a 95 Sprite, again with AP`s up front. :thumbsup:


ERA did have Tro Turbo 4 Pots.
