Alright Watched the DVD number of times now and still can't suss out how the whole wheel bearing on the front is sorted out.

I see the insert but surely the wheel will rock side to side as the hub has no drive shaft.

A little confused. to say the least.

Want to get all these questions sussed before Ordering the kit........

cheers.

Brian

Hi there basically in the standard car front hub you have two taper roller bearings which the outer cv assembly runs in, this whole lot is torqued together with the disc drive flange and outer nut so the outer cv rotates in the bearings in the hub driven by the driveshaft. For rwd or the z cars conversion you still use standard parts including the outer cv but most people machine the redundant cv joint part away to create just a pin with a flat top to mount the speedo sensor bolts/magnets to, you can just see the end of it in this pic inside the drivers side hub someone may have a better one hope this helps

it goes like this, take your outer cv from the mini driveshaft, machine off the cup and your left with a stub axle to fasten all the hub together as per std mini

thanks Guys.

so what torque are we talking about on this CV? I take it you have to get it tapered at teh same time as you machine off teh Outer Cup on teh Outer C.V

Does one side have to be a reverse thread

I take it htat chris can supply this...

Are you familiar with a mini hub setup?
You just machine/cut/file/grind etc the CV cup off flat and assemble as per haynes manual.

cheers

yeah But it looks Like there is a Bolt that is going in the Centre of the CV?

and I know the other 4 are for the speedo. no problems there.

cheers.

Yep the M10 bolt in the centre was there for assembly puprpose's on the bench so i could tighten up the hubs, but i only torqued them up when the car was finished and it had brakes so i could hold the car whilst tightening the hub and putting the split pin in.

Cheers
