
Below is the result! I did manage to cut into the crank slightly on two sides but there is more than enough material to provide a good base for the flywheel to sit over. New block, here we come!

Congratulations on your first serious bodgeBought myself a nice low milage metro engine from ebay and the time came to make use of it so tried getting flywheel off with puller and it decided to strip the thread of one of the 3 bolts. re-tapped it tried again, same problem. Re-tapped larger, ditto. Was told to get a flywheel off that's this stuck is to chop of the starter housing and
it with a full on sledgehammer! Didn't fancy that so invested in a lovely new angle grinder to chop the old flywheel off!
