if you are completly stripping it down (always a good idea with any used engine, whatever people ma say imo) dip it in some parrafin. got my old block really clean this way. the tub came from homebase and cost £5 and the parrafin was £3! I gave it a nice coat of gloss black Halfords engine paint and it looks great imo.New crank eh? I should be ok to use the one from my exsisting engine as both mg 1275 units (Or are the cranks individually matched and balanced to each short engine?)? problem solved? I'm definately not in a hurry over this one and want to get everything bob-on.
Any hints or tips for cleaning up the block? I want to paint it. Any reccomended work to carry out while it's stripped down this far? bearing shells or whatnot?
