Have you taken the rubber boot off, or rather whatever is securing the rubber boot onto the pot joint.

There are different types, and i am unsure about Hardy Splicers but yes you just pull them out as they are normally held in place by the hub etc

best way sounds a bit drastic but works for me every time get a big pry bar long as poss wedge it beetween the diff and the shaft from underneath then yankk sharply and it will pop out

im not sure if your talking about getting the pot joints out of the diff, or the driveshafts out of the pot joints? either way, a good tug will get em

Early yoke types have nuts that obviously have to be removed. I don't know what is on the Hardy Spicers.

From memory, later shafts with the inner pot joints have a spring circlip on their splines inside the gearbox. To remove the shafts you need to lever between the pot joint and the gearbox to remove them from the differential. I've seen pictures of a heavy, fork took for removing them but I've also heard that you can easily do this with a large crow-bar.

I use a cold chisel and wedge between the diff cover and pot joint, and a sharp tap with a mallet... Works every time..

Alsternatively, you can remove the rubber boot and withdraw the driveshaft leaving the pot intact.... This way you can actually remove the engine without draining the oil.

cheers guys you have more or less all answerd whati needed to now, theres nothing holding them in place as such so with a good tug and tease here and there they will come away.

all i need now is the rain to stop!

That will split the pot joint in half. You need to put a thin drift up the inside of the boot, along the shaft and strike it against the rim of the pot joint inner member to split the joint from the shaft. Pot joints are just as delicate as CV joints and each unit is matched, you should not split them if you can avoid it.
