Vented calipers?

The fiesta brake conversion is popular, of which there has been much mention here on this forum.

probably not i'd say, but it depends what pads you use etc. The fiesta route is really a way to ensure you can use a disc set-up with 10's, but it's a bonus that the discs and pads are way bigger than the cooper S set-up.

The metro turbo conversion is generally considered to be a disappointing upgrade over 2pot 8.4's.

No,... the Cooper S set-up uses 7.5 discs. 8.4 is the standard disc size on minis.

Perhaps I should have clarified. If you already have 2pot / 8.4, it's not really worth changing them to 4pot-metro / 8.4's. Better to spend money on decent pads and discs.

The vented 4 pots are better, but not enough to justify the time and money is the general opinion. to be honest Metro callipers are just not that good, the best bet is some custom alloy 4 pots designed for a Mini from KAD, Mini Spares or Mini Sport. KAD being the best of these. Vented discs is also a bit of a waste of time on a road Mini IMHO. The car just isn't that heavy.

well if your car is standard you will have 2 pot calipers, this means one on each side.

4 pot means 2 on each side

2 + 2 is 4.

i just spent a large amount of money on brakes for my car, but only because i know there will be a bigger engine in there someday.

if your car is remaining largely standard, then there isnt much point. as has been said, get some new discs and better pads. you will notice the difference.

braided brake hoses helps too.
