I bought a 1275 block, crank etc yesterday and the block and pistons are stamped with MOWOG, the backplate between the timing chain cover and block is really big why is this and what is mowog?

Some say MOWOG was the name of the gorilla that was employed to tighten the crankshaft bolt on all the Mini engines as they were built !!!! 
Unfortunately its much more boring than that and stands for MOrris WOlsely Garages ! I think !!

Thats the one, It's stamped on all A seres engines up to about the 70's (some one correct me if it's wrong)

Other theory is that MOWOG is cunning anagramatic acronym, referring to a certain forum members pet cow.

The austin 1300GT had an engine mount on the plate between the timing gears and the block , Maybe its one of these , sort of sticks out 90degree bend with two holes
