i have got a pair of cv joints for a disc braked mini, how do you check if they are worn out off the car. im rebuilding the brakes for it and dont want to put knackered ones back on.
should they move freely or bit a bit stiff or what??

the simple answer here is you can't when there are off the car! unless the iner cage is flopping around? they should be nice and stiff

If you insert a driveshaft with the spring clip removed, and attempt to twist the inner cage with that shaft against the stub axle of the CV, there should be no slack.
As Matrix states they should also be stiff to move in a radial manner. Any doubts, fit new / recon ones.
