Hi,

Still trying to get to the bottom of the noisy, missing A+ engine.

When the car was picked up (not by me) it was started and driven onto a trailer and apparently ran fine - although it had not run since December.

When it arrived home it started and ran on 3. Upon removing no4 plug it still ran exactly the same.... but you could hear a rythmic clacking sound from the plug hole, like the piston hitting something......

Do you esteemed A Series experts have any ideas what it is and what to do ?

Do a Compression test, test the compression on all four cylinders, NO:4 will likely be lower than the rest, if it is then you are probably going to need to take the head of to have a closer look.

Those more knowledable will either confirm tell me im talking rubbish.

I assume that its sparking ok on all four points.
