Hi All,

I have done a search and not really come up with the answer i am after. What i would like to know is what temp the block and head will get upto under normal operating conditions. I'm talking about the outside with reference to what paint can be applied. I have some red engine paint which is fine, but i think it would look great if i matched it to the body colour (rover metallic nightfire red - it wouldnt have to be metallic) and could use the engine paint for a couple of base coats.

So, is this an undeniable waste of time, or could it work?

Paint not designed for heat resistance tends to flake over time. I would be inclined to speak to a paint supplier about having some matched.
