OK, we have decided to try and press ahead with this event to take place sometime after the middle of 2005, following a discussion HERE we have decided to have a run from London to The Nürburgring, with a little help from out german users to provide us with some sight seeing, what we are hoping to do is devise a convoy of minis with support vehicles, to travel in convoy from London across the Chanel through France, Belgium then into Germany, then for a blast around the track for whoever is interested and then some sight seeing, so basically this is here to let you know whats going on, and to see if anybody could suggest anything towards the event.. so far the run :

Will take place over 3-7 days
We will have support vehicles to keep our minis in check
Will be donating proceeds to a charity, so we will be trying to get sponsored

Please drop your name down if your interested and which months you are free, although we were thinking along the lines of July,August,September,October

Cheers Nick

awww, i would love to go on this one!!!

That way i could also get a chance to hook-up with some others non-mini mates ( i do have some) in Germany.

but, that is when cowboy is away in sunny places and my brother is getting married in July so that takes away most of July and August for me

http://www.motorbike...nurburgring.htm

Have a look at this link for hotels , we used the the hotel Zur Burg , very close to where you get onto the track , about 1/2 mile .
We had a great night in the restraunt.
We got off the Calais ferry at 12pm and we were there by dark with an hour stop .
Even found a classic mini dealer nearby, with loads of mini for sale.

Next morning five minis round the track ( FANTASTIC ) but take care every thing is coming passed you at twice your speed and there is very little room on some of the bends .
We stopped at Nurburgring on our way to Trento for this years Italian Job ( visited Hockenheim next day as well .)
Nurgurgring is a fantastic experience ( and who knows how long they will keep it open , lots of accidents mean that it may get closed to the public .) a must do.

You could do the whole thing in a week end easily , but more fun if you take longer.
14euros a lap , and hardly any waiting
Rog

Just talking about foreign holidays with the other arf last night...
Don't think this is what she had in mind
But if may be able to work what charm I have left by August..
Late July August would be best for us, we can then ship the kids off to the fossils ( Grandparents ) for a week...

What a coincidence ! i havent seen the thread that started this , but a group of us from north wales have allready decided to do a trip to the nurburgring ! , we were thinking of camping , doing a 5 day trip , day to get out , 3 days stay , day to get back , ferry out midle of the night (its cheaper and gives you the whole day to get there ) all i can say is ,
great minds think alike

OK, so far the general concensus is July/August except for poor old Terri, we will have to sort somet....
the trip would be like a holiday for us because it may cost around £500 for the week, just depends on what accomadation we are going for, also it may be a little more expensive because its summer, so we may have to take the camping gear  but what an experience it will be, to get a convoy to Germany and back and spend some laps on the track
