As the title says the engine is over revving when clutch is down or on tick over.

Details
car = vauxhall Astra
year = M reg

Symptoms
engine over revs when warm
seems to be using more fuel
(the over revving is quite dangerous as it wants to pull the car while braking)

What ive done
full engine service.

im not to sure where to look but i think it could be the automatic choke
but im not very familiar with the automatic choke.

any help is muchly appreciated.

Try a vauxhall forum.

I had a similar problem with my pug 306. Was the temp sensor broken, was reading cold so the ECU kept injecting fuel and put the revs up.
