Im asking for a set of yokohama A539's for my birthday next week. I have some gravel tryres, wet tyres but now I want some cheap tarmac tyres.

Ive been looking at the A539's

Has anyone got any opinions of these as I have never driven on them. I will wear them out in one rally so I dont care about how long they last, just intrested in grip!!!

Any opinions?

Thanks,

Chris.

i like them, mainly for the way they look, but i've not had any problems with them grip wise.

wet or dry, they have always done well and if they have broke loose in the wet then it's been the usual front wheel drift round the roundabouts.

Second that. Although mine arn't lasting very long, although you did say that wasn't an issue. But I've covered only a few thousand miles and they look very worn. Its not like I light them up everytime I pull away. :techsupport:

nOT GREAT IN THE WET BUT GOOD IN THE DRY.

048R'S ARE BETTER BUT YOU WILL ONLY SEE ONE RALLY ON THEM

found them much better in the wet than dunlop SP2000 or conti sorts in 13's and miles better than falcons in teh wet in 12's. Only managed 6k out of a pair on the front, mainly motorway use as well.

we were looking at a set of those but If we don't reckon its gonna be within the budget. Are they much better than the A539's?

depends which compound you get - they come in soft/medium and hard in the uk. the soft ones dont last very long but are very grippy in wet/dry the hard ones last a long time but dont have anything like the same level of grip. i have the soft/medium on my car and have had for a couple of years now - purely because i cant afford the 48s

Demon tweeks should be able to supply in the various compounds.

I dont think the 539s come in anything other than the compound they are made in, its a road tyre. I think these tyres are the ******** never had a problem in the wet. The 008s were unbelievebly bad in the wet. The 13" 048s do come in soft and medium, the 12" in medium only and the 10" 032s are soft only that i do know. The way to tell is there is a block on the side wall with either a capital S, M or H denoting the compound.

I have just purchased the Medium 048s for the fronts as i will need all the grip i can find, i went for the softs but they couldnt find them in the warehouse, so as i always seem to do, comprimised. Still noticebly softer than the 539s i have, which have done a couple of drag events and over 4k with LOADS left on them. it would be interesting to see what the tyre pressures were for those who get sh!te milege out of them
