Basically, the only way i could get the bonnet catch to grab the bonnet and grasp it with any certainty was to make the bonnet look like poo

it sits far too high at the front and the grill trim dont line up. its like an inch out on the drivers side

i did try and fiddle for a while, but any better fit, and the catch gave up

by the way the catch is almost fully extended from the bonnet too

get rid of the hinges and catch and fit bonnet pins and then straps/springs!! ;D makes it easier to work on the car too.

It's just a matter of altering the angle of the 'dog's knob' on the bonnet to line up with the catch and basically fiddling about....

there is also a small amount of front to back movement on the hinge mounts themselves, this can have an effect on the way the catch "grips".

unless there is something wrong with the car (bent panel, cheap bonnet etc.) you should be able to get it to fit !!???

very strange !!

the "dogs knob" is adjusted as far as it can go almost without falling off, and cant seem to adjust the angle too much

the bonnet may well be a cheap nasty one for all i know, some one has bodged the bonnet hinge bolts, as they have welded the bolts to the hinge, so there is FA adjustment on the rear

Without seeing it's differcult, when you close the bonnet is the bonnet basically in the right place, but the bonnet catch assembly is out of alignment, the female part of the bonnet catch assembly ie the bit bolted to the landing panel, if you slacken the two bolts of there you will be able to move the assembly loads as it's on slotted holes, you shouldn't be bending or twisting anything unless something is very wrong

Cheers

basically, if i got the bonnet to sit right, it didnt catch in the front panel, and if i get the catch the to fit, the bonnet sits high at the front.

i will have a look at adjusting the female part in a bit.

because you cannot adjust the hinges remove the bonnet peg and drop the bonnet, push the bonnet across as need be to get the same gap down the sides.
refitt the bonnet peg just a few turns, drop the bonnet down and look to see if it lines up with the catch, adjust the catch so the peg lines up, if the peg needs moving further back or forward you can bend it by hand, if it needs moving further to the side and all the catch adjustment has gone file the holes bigger.
now close the bonnet and screw in the peg to bring the bonnet further down just a couple of turns at a time.
