help! ive got a 1275 and im buildin it up but lightly tunin it as i go it has the followin

lightly ported polished head
double valve springs
new follwers
duplex timin gear
piper 255 cam
lightened balanced flywheel

my dad and my mate are goin on about performance cams having different timings and stuff and im new to the world of cams, can you set a performance cam up at home and what differences in timings is there.
please help i need the car on the road soon as miniwolrd are shootin the car soon

Right, when you get your cam you'll get a long ass list of specs for it.

I don't know how but from that you set the cam up so it opens "X" amount before or after TDC depending on the cam. You can do the sprt cam dot to dot (stock way to time a cam in) but you'll never get full power and I think you can toast the valve seats out.....might be the voices talking though.

To time a cam proper you REALLY need a set of adjustable timing gear to get it dead perfect. You can use an offset woodruff key and if you ask piper cam's they may be able to suggest one. Using a offset key means you still time dot to dot.
