how exactly DO you remove the little pin that holds the gear selector to the gearbox??

i have been trying to knock it out with old drill bits that are roughly the same diameter but it wont even move AT ALL!
am i doing something wrong? also i take it that the one im sposed to remove is the horizontal one. and from the drivers side??

i kinda want to get this done today so any quick help would be fab :P

with a proper punch and a big hammer, from what i've learnt

I may also remember about putting the gearbox in a specific gear to make that easier, dont remember which one, you could try a search, i've read that here

Reverse is the easy way. Trust me.

I bought a set of punches for under a £5. got about 15 sizes in a sleeve, was worth the money.

Correct size punch as said.

If push comes to shove you can attempt drilling.

Use a bolt and nuyloc nut to make simple when you refit everything.

for future, try wedging something between the transmission column part of the car and the selector rod itself, steadies things and means you have a surface to support against. Helps having a pit too :P
