Hello everyone,
my mini has a 998cc(mini engine) with 13inch wheels(175-50-13).
I have a problem,if anyone can help me...Please!!!!
My car's speed is about 80 Km/[email protected] and it can't go more...
I already have a second engine (metro 998 A+).
I believe my main problem is the diff ratio, and i'm thinking that with the other engine it will be ok...
and here comes my question..
Will it be ok,should i find a 1293cc metro engine,
or should i change to smaller wheels(165-60-12)...??????
Sorry for the long post......
Sorry for my bad english.......
what to do?

prob not helping but using 13inch rims on a 998 i wouldn't expect it to be very fast!
if you think about it your 998 engine has to turn the big wheels and get up to speed! its prob under so much load and cant handle it

sounds wierd tho. U sure its only getting to 80km/h. My standard 998 with 175-50-r13s easily hit 80mph and thats at a similar rpm. U sure ur not forgetting 4th gear? Has got to be v short final drive i.e. diff.

i know,i thought so...
it must be the FD...
there's a difference between 3rd and 4th gear but not much....
i'm going to ask the mechanic who did the re-build...
anyway...i found a metro turbo engine for 250euro,and i don't know what to do....

You can't get a final drive short enough to achieve 80 KMH at 5000rpm in 4th on 13" rims.
a 3.7 would give you 80 MPH at 5000rpm in 4th on 13" rims.
Smaller wheels will reduce your top speed, not increase it.

i tried all the combinations at "gueesworks gearboxes" and i couldn't find anything too..
The tachometer isn't working properly but speed was calculated with a gps(confirmed by a 2006golf too) and it can't be wrong because i can see it too on the highway....
As i said i'm going to change the engine, but i want to be sure that i won't have the same problem...
Also the guy with the metro turbo engine said that is recently re-build,but i'm going to check it out before i buy it .....
