refitting pushrods and adjusting tappets

I've just changed my cylinder head gasket on my A+ 998 engine. On replacing the pushrods, no. 6 will not go back in properly, it has dropped too far down and doesn't seem to be resting on anything properly.
I fear that the cam follower has come out as I've removed the pushrod. Is this likely?
How do I fix this?
Thanks
Josh.

Undo the tapet chest cover at the back of the engine its a small rectangle it has one bolt in the middle you can then see if the follower has popped out, it happen to me once I was taking the push rod out too quick.

Thanks very much. I'll do that tomorrow. If it has will it just drop back in?
Take the opportunity to give them all a good polish and soak them in oil when you put them back. It is the pulling up of the push rod that sucks them out.
PS. Getting the new gaskets on the covers is a *Female doggy*, I ended up reusing the old ones, also don't over tighten the cover.
