ill try and draw it up but basically the smoothed of valance which replaces the rear bumper seam in then in the middle we want a recessed box section to accomodate a number plate for those who dont have space fo one on their boots i.e. people with smooth boots. It also means you can get rid of the gash number plate light and replace it with a few spotlightlights facing downwards.

Hope thats clearer. I dnt have any pictures as its a new idea but if u look at most modern cars, they have it to some extent.

Ok kool but how would you mount the vallance? would it not be easier to weld a metal valance on the smooth it that way? then weld a box section in to that?

no because you have to cut the lip abit weld cut abit more weld, untill you get to the end. then you grind the lot over put filler over the top then smooth off...

with this you basicly rivit on skim of filler over the top then sand down, saves on alot of time and if your not great at welding like me....

Not sure I understand that? So your not creating a smooth valance, as you'll still have the lip there (theres no mention of grinding it off). Which also means you'd still have to use a bumper, which would probably obscure the licence plate to a point where you'd get interest from the police.

Yea how would you rivit it on... and surley the filler would crack easily. ill just still to welgin mine atm, dosnt take that long to be honist. i can only see it taking about an hour longer that the rivet way, but then again if you cant weld this would be a good solution.

Yea but if you grind the seam off then the floor woudl come away from the boot hinge panel, so that means you would have to get the welder out anyway...

theyr also smooth in that they dont have the little verticle lip at the bottom and just sort of curve round into the darkness. Yer i think you would have to weld the boot floor back up if you cut the rear buper seam...

Right, 2 types of rear valance, both need the boot floor welding.

Standard, but in composite, is just to get rid of all that rust we call the rear valance. You remove the old metal rear valance, make good the rust (its a Mini after all) and then you can either rivit or bond the composite panel in place. Just means, as long as you dont crash etc, you will never have to worry about the rear valance rusting ever again.

Whilst its off the car, you can drill the odd hole (or various shape) in the rear valance to help with the air flow beneath the car.

Smooth rear valance. This has the lip going in towards the front of the car, this is so you still have something to rivit-bond onto the boot floor.

This i think is the more popular one for the smoothy owners.

I shall look into makeing the recess in the smoothy valance during the weekend.

It needs to be deep enought to look good and low enough for the MOT/Police.

LED for lights?
