if you had a fin / blade design that drew air in, on the oppersite side it would be working in reverse and probably not as effective

wouldn't you need to have directional rims that would only go on one side of the car.

It'd be pushing air out instead I suppose
What do they use in WRC, I'm sure that'll be the best combination of strength, weight & cooling?
I think you'd be better off investing your time and money on your brakes to solve over heating brakes

Also, as the wheel's got a larger diameter than the brake, it'd make sense to centrifuge air away from the brake rather than fan air on to it. On that basis a bigger wheel and smooth aerodynamic inside to the rim would probably be more important than spoke shape.

The other option is to keep an eye on Ebay for some Mercedes Maclaren SLR wheels and adapt them for the mini!

I think, as has been mentioned that Rose petals were the only ones that may have possibly been designed with brake cooling in mind. I'm sure I've heard this also, but again, wouldn't be able to pinpoint a source of that info.
Hmm [pogie strokes his chin in a thoughtful way]. I've got 12x6 Rosepetal replicas and there doesn't seem to be anything in the design for inducing any sort of airflow. Maybe the idea was to use the wheel as a heat sink and to radiate the heat from the brakes via the extra surface area that an ally wheel has compared to a pressed steel item.

I was under the impression that the Rosepetal design was copied from wheels on the Cooper single seat race cars where the extra strength and lack of weight was needed.

im sure you could go to a company that make wheels as ask them to design some 12" wheels that would look like this:
