Lights

im not very good at electrics because its all trial and error and all that so ill ask if anyone else has experienced this problem or ways to go around solving it.
I have a K reg spi cooper if it helps
I replaced all the 5 main switches in the middle
then ssomehow the one for my lights burnt and melted a load of wire behind there so i rewired that with the right cable etcn and redid my fuse box with blade fuses so that solved alot of my prob because everything now works with the exception of my full beam.
now the weird thing is............I can have my full lights on (rocker switch down twice) and if i pull back my left stalk nothing happens but if i pish it forward all my lights go off.
also If i have my sidelights on when i turn my engine off the main bulb on my sidelights go off but the two little bulbs (i have angel eyes) stay on.......................
not sure really where to start unless there is some sort of in line fuse that i cant find or a wire somewhere else thats burnt out.
At the time the wires melted i did have spots but ive taken all these out now.
Hope someone can help!

when you say all the lights go out do you mean ALL the lights or the main beam goes out and the side lights stay on?
if the sides stay on you simply haven't rewired it correctly and the main beam has lost it's supply, i think the wire for this is blue/white. trace the cable from the light back and check everything is as it should be.
if all lights go out you've probably got a short somewhere.

i redid all the wired behind the switch so do u mean to trace it back to the indicator lever thingy?
