Right, since its been raingin ive been tryign to rebuild various bits of the mini in the workshop.

ATM i hav ebeen doing the upper front sus arms. Got all the C**p off them, got the bearings and knuckle cups out, but cant get the damned damper mounts off.

I will be replacing them with the minispares upgraded ones you see, don't want any snapping! These look a bit rusty.

Now, im not actually sure how there menat to come off. theres clearly a hole though the cast arm. Is this threaded? do i just hammer the pin out, or do i need to undo it using the hex head? (so far neither have really done anything!) theres a "spacer" on the pin which isnt part of the arm, but seems to be faily well attached to something, is this part of the pin (as it would appear to be on the minispares upgraded one) or has it just rusted on?

Any help appreciated!

The bolt is only in a plain hole, it isn't threaded but it will no doubt be rusted in. And the collar on the bolt you mention is just slid on the bolt like a washer and it will have just rusted on. Try a little heat and a few strikes with a hammer to get the bolt out if a little wd40 doesn't work first.
hope that helps

thanks guys, looks like the mini spares one uses a nut and has the spacer built in, rather than being a very long bolt.

i will continue with some more wd40, and some extra BFI.

I'd be tempted to grind the head off 'n whack it in the opposite direction if the sleeve is rusted solid and it's destined for the scrap bin in any case.

I think i need a blow torch.
