I'd say there's loads of different threads here that provide images of members Minis and information, even if the feature cars link on the main page hasn't taken off yet? Well I can only see one page anyway?

"Who needs airbags when you're already in Heaven?"
Do you think I should get myself a bumper sticker made up?

I was in Sainsburies, idly queuing for a nice bit of Wensleydale at the cheese counter, when this entered my head for some reason....

Sounds good to me, but won't apply if you have a post 1996 Twin-Point Mini though?

1. It's ridiculous to suggest that roll cages or roll bars are to ONLY be used in conjunction with full race harnesses and F1 Helmets, even on street cars driving at normal speeds. Think Jeep Wranger. Jeeps come from the factory with roll cages (I owned one) and they do not require you to use an F1 Helmet when driving and have normal 3 point seat belts. Who drives on the streets with a helmet on??
2. Not every roll cage/roll bar is designed for the same purpose. There are all-out race cages designed to be used with full race harnesses, etc., but there are also STREET roll bars/cages designed to be used for cars driving on NORMAL roads and do not even come with hookups for race harnesses, etc.
3. The original poster was inquiring about improved safety, by installing a roll cage. Basically he was told to either go full-out race (with helmet and harness) or nothing. I disagree with that. I know that I would prefer a street roll bar with padding on it combined with proper 3 point seatbelts over no roll bar at all. If you roll over (and if you are hit hard in the side of one of these cars that could very possibly happen), the roll bar will SAVE YOUR LIFE. If you are hit from the side, the street roll bar with side impact bar can SAVE YOUR LIFE.
4. To suggest that the added rigidity of a roll cage is a negative in an accident when not combined with other gear such as neck braces is also ridiculous. Even at low speeds the added rigitity would be a benefit to the driver in the event of an accident.

Why bother replying to a thread from 2007, when the OP hasn't been back since posting the thread.

Here's the Mini crash test they did near the first editions, it's pretty horrifying from what I see anyhow :/
