Sooty as in black, as if you held something over a candle, it would show on your plugs too.

What carb have you got does it have a lifter pin for checking the mixture?


I wouldn't say so, no.

I think you need to buy a haynes or at least google SU carburettor!

I think you need to buy a haynes or at least google SU carburettor!


I've got a Haynes and it makes about as much sense to me as the chinese dictionary!

Yes I've got one of those grey/silver milk-bottle looking things with a black screw-in top, if that's what you mean!

Now there a thought Milk bottles are lote cheaper than new carbs.

Does your milk bottle have a square bottom or does it have a little yoghurt pot to the side with a hose going into a pipe on top?
