Hi Minimad I've been looking quite a bit between your photos and myne.

http://img167.images...image031hc2.jpg

You have heaps of room! Bazaar. On myne the timing cover recesses inward to a smaller diameter which juts out 10mm or so. All this is visble from front on and means the rear face of the pulley sits about 10mm away from the large face of the timing cover. Does your pulley appear to be further in thatn this? I'm wondering if my pulley is on properly. It should be

Well, the visual differences could possibly be explained by the fact that mine is an A+ engine, with a different timing cover. But it does somehow appear that your pulley is sticking out waaay too far to me. I do have a 1275 A series sat in the garage, I'll take a piccy tonight. :shifty:

Would be interesting to see those pics later if you get the chance. For now I did what you mentioned before. A loosen and retighten of those bolts while lifting the timing end of the engine. Gained about 5mm clearnace - heaps. I'll keep a real close eye on that pulley to see if it sneaks out at all. Cheers minimad.

Just make sure that you have clearance for the fan/radiator cowl.

Also, the pulley looks damn close to the fan blades in that piccy (might just be the angle it's on?)

Just make sure your fan has clearance all round really.

If the crank pulley wasn't seating fully on the crank it'd be misaligned with the waterpump and alternator pulleys - that would be a biger problem than the fouling bolts.

Adapt the L shaped bracket and the fouling bolts;

Bend the bracket - make a replacement - grind the heads - use countersinks - weld it.....

Actually, one thing I did was slotted the bolt holes for the rad bracket with a grinding disc. That made it a lot easier to take out, you can just see it on the pic of mine.

The fan does turn really close to the pulley. Originally I thought it may have been the blades hitting until i saw the bolt and realised the horrible sound was very metal to metal. Makes ya cringe when stopped at traffic lights. Will see how it goes.
Modifying the bracket is definitely an option.
Belt appears to be running true to other pulleys.
I see how you slotted them. Would make it a bit easier. At the momoent I remove the two bolt which are going vertically downward. I've done it a few times now so have developed the knack for it.

Time will tell. Will update this topic in a few days. I have plenty of other things to fix aswell before i get a WOF (warrant of fitness).

That's off a big bore A series. It had the same radiator mount as the one that I am using on the 1380 A+ and there were no clearance issues on it.
