Batman thread reveal. Anyone else tried this and able to confirm that it will work and shouldn't damage the engine?

Its basically what water injection is and I had my mates 2.5 TDi passat done with a Devils Own Kit by the UK Imported about 2 years ago. the WARNING is though to much water and high revs can wreck the engine (blown Headgasket - Bent Rods )
Delils own is water/methonal so you get a power boost as well.

I just want a quick decoke for my daily without whipping the head off. If I bought a decoke fluid and placed the vac pipe in it like the fella said and let then engine run. Will this work and fix my problamo?

Its not something I'd be doing, I'd whip the head off.
The water injection systems do in fact clean out the coke and clean the EGR and Turbo but it takes many on road miles to do this.

If you pour water (better if you spray it rather than pouring) into your carb mouth/elbow while revving at about 3500 rpm, it will work and de-coke the head, but it will take a while to 'steam clean' it. Of course as the engine revs drop, stop spraying water, add water again as the revs rise up. Also you cant do this for more than 5-10 minutes, becuase your engine will overheat from being stationary at high revs.
It works, i've done that and many others on here did this.

Depending on how worn your engine is if a certain amount of carbon build up at the side of the pistons/bore at the TDC mark then you could see a increase in oil consumption and smoke. I knew someone who had a engine which didnt smoke and had done a lot of miles he removed the head scraped away the coke at TDC on the bores and cleaned the pistons off right out to the edge and when put back together smoked like a witch.
Are you sure your pinking is being caused by carbon or do you just have a worn distributor?

The pinking problem was in 2007, i think he may have sorted that by now. Either that or he did the water cleaning and blew up his engine and never came back LOL.

lol yes I was answering Tehmarchant who seems to have the same issues as the other chap back in 2007

Or squirt a small amount of brake fluid down the carb, and that cleans your exhaust as well, and anything behind it!Pinking (pre ignition) happens when there is a thick layer of coke (carbon) built up on the valves, head and piston crowns.
The only decent solution is to take the head off and de-coke the head, valves and crowns. (becareful not to scratch the bores)

Now we are cooking! how about VIM (anyone remember that?) down the plugholes for an instant rebore!
Dont try this at home boys and girls.
I seriously doubt you have pinking. Do you have a tubular manifold by any chance?

I have a minispares one http://www.minispare...px|Back to shop
Okay watch this video and about "31 seconds" listen to the sound, that is pinking right? and it has only gotten worse and happens more often now but only when heated up.

Caustic soda used to be the standard way to decoke 2 stroke exhausts. When it stopped fizzing it was done. Now we are cooking! how about VIM (anyone remember that?) down the plugholes for an instant rebore!
