Get deep dish rims for that big look.
Yes it is true, but not sure to what extent, spacers do provide more stress on balljoints, bearings etc. there was a big thread on this, to space or not to space.....
search forum for it.

I have a set of 12 x 5.5 deep dish (not big deeps) and they scrape at the front, the wheel sticks out of the arch about 8mm. So not sure about the 12 x 6 big deeps with euro arches.

All the MOT guy can do is 'Advise, he cannot fail it..
Unless it sticks out a stoopid amount!!
Mine has gone through 2 mots like how it is in the pix.

There is quite a big visual difference between 'big deeps, and 'deep dish..
These are deep dish, not so nice as the 'big deeps!!
I really wanted a set of 'big deeps, but got talked out of it because of arch mods, when it comes to a tyre change, i am getting me a set of big deeps instead of a new set of tyres lol!!!!!

From that angle you cant really tell how deep they are and I think look really beefy!
Ok, I will let on to you now Miniman5. Im getting group 5 euro arches, so If ud wait to about the end of Jan/Feb you will be able tp see what my wheels are like with those arches.

I would avoid fitting deep dish wheels and spacers together. Depending on the wheel width, deep dish wheels are effectively spacered anyway (since the centre of the wheel is further away from the mounting flange than standard) so if you spacer them as well you are going to extremes. Ideally you wouldn't go more than 1/2" further offset than standard on a disc braked car (including any extra dish in the rim) since these cars already have the wheels set 1" further out than the suspension was originally designed for on the drum setup.
It does cause extra stress on ball joints, wheel bearings, CV joints, steering and diff, but how much exactly differs depending on your individual setup (tyre choice, rim weight etc.).
