Really tinny No bass

LOL, its unlikely the speakers are naff in this instance, as i know most of the mid-bass' in the 75s were Alpine OEM units. They will not be badged Almpine anywhere, not even on the magnet, just trust me they are. :kiss:

It sounds very much like you have a phase issue. I.e you have the positive and neg of the speakers on the wrong way accross the pair. You can chack the polarity of them real easy on an AA battery.



Will give it a go changing the wires around tonight and post how i get on...... when its the right way around the cones push oout?

Use an AA battery with some wire from each end to the terminals of the speaker. If the cone moves out, you know that the positive nipple on the battery must have the wire going to the positive speaker connection. Get the same result from the other side and its in phase. :P

Does that make sense?

Also while you're there checking the phase, just make sure the speaker is screwed down tight against the mounting ring. if there is a gap anywhere around the ring, use something to seal it, like some flashing tape, or even some cardboard for the time being. Just make sure there is some sort of baffle.

Changed the rover 75 speakers for two kenwood smaller ones now have Bass!!!! Also got an infinity huge blooming sub thing that only just fits in the boot so reckon I need an amp now!!!
