Just about to build a new motor for my 95 mini and have been advised to use a mg metro cam. I have been told that this cam has no markings on it? How can I identify it if this is true or is it better to buy a piper or kent cam that is similiar or go for the swiftune sw-07 which a few people have recommended. The engine is staying at 1275 as I don't see the point in boring a good engine just for cc's.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The MG cam has a 1/4" groove machined into it between two of the lobes. either 1 and 2 or 7 and 8 I can't remember which. But if you have a look on the ML Motorsport website AC Dodd has a list of cams with pictures, specs and details.

I've just popped onto the ML Motorsport website but AC Dodd's bit isn't working right now. I needed to find out if my cam was an MG Metro one myself! I've take a pic of mine for you and I'm guessing the groove you're talking about is something like this. You can't see it very well so I've highlighted it. Hope this helps!

Thanks for that excellent cam info on that site. The picture above looks like a mg cam.
