Ok, the time has come, im in the garage the whole of this week to get my new engine in my mini (tinkerbelle, or "tink" for short). Brought the car quite a few months back and shes been chugging along fine with her little 1275, but is obviously getting weaker and weaker (im probably just getting used to it). Got the car as an MOT failure and since i have stripped it all out, welded new patches in the floors, inner sills, and spot welded on new outer sills. Had to unbolt the subframe to correct the mount in the footwell too since it had punched through  New seats and rollcage but nothing else inside  As i have said, all of that has been done and is out the way, and she was on the road for a few months UNTIL NOW  When the mutilation begins. To go in this week is...

... a Bill richards 1425 A+ engine with a race head, 314 degree cam and a special dizzy off a cossie BDA mk1 escort.

And lots and lots of gubbins to go with all of this!

Ill update the post tomoro to let you all no how i am getting on with the project, And ill get some pics of 2moros 'events' too.

wish me luck :S !!!

I'm sorry, I just realised you can't have this engine..

It would be criminal to put it into a car named 'Tinkerbelle'!

Right then. Got the subframe and engine out today to give it all a good clean up. Anyone who sayes "oh just whip (emphasis on the 'wh' for all those family guy fans) the subframe out, all you need is 30 minutes, a mate and a long pole" is a liar, and has no experience with mini's. Anyway, spent the majority of the day stripping out everything from the engine bay. Finally me and my dad lifted the car off the subframe and bish bash bosh we have got it in 2 pieces. now it building time (with a little trip to min'its 2moro.)

Well, major day. Decided against the 314 degree cam, which would be stupid for a road car, so a 286 is going in there, reccomended by SMMC, will give bucket loads of torque with the aldon dizzy. Went shopping at min'its, worried about pinking with the 11.5:1 compression ratio for a long time. Then i tried to work out how to bloody time these vernier jobs. So will sort that 2moro now. Got a bit late. Anyway. Stripped the rest of the subby, now i got it alone appart from discs. Engine off it etc... then went to the pub and got drunk....

and thanks for not passing on the amplifier for the BDA distributer jammy (or roofless)!!!! you have made it a useless bit of kit, and (yellow wee or whatever ur stupid censor will replace it with) alot of MK1 escort enthusiasts by wrecking a BDA dizzy, u no how sort after they are, each amp is MATCHED with its dizzy. Another reason for putting on the 286.

Another day is the garage... ish. Popped down to southam to get some tools etc. Got allllll of the pistons out and rods because they were covered in grit etc, dirt everywhere (in the new engine) so cleaned all of them and re-assembled them. Lots of flywheel on off things. Cleaned subframe. Split old engine and got all of the bolts... found they were too small because the 1425 block had been tapped out to a bigger size where it bolts to the gearbox... got new bolts, drilled out the gearbox. Have to clean all the gearbox out because its asif it has been shot blasted, then reassembled with all the beads in, grit city. Got everything in need, another productive day tomro im sure!!!

easy tiger - amplifier was attatched to the dizzy via dodgy cable - small silver case like object with earthing strap attatched to one side - I pointed it out to you when you picked up the engine and you took it away with you - we even discussed how dodgy it looked and that it would definately need re-working. It had ford labelling on it. you also got the aldon chucked in for good measure didnt you? , and a spare head, and some 1:5 roller rockers !! and a brand new set of twin SU's- what exactly did I do wrong here? last time I'm generous to anyone.

its there somewhere because its definately not here - had a good scout around and no sign of it.

to stop kids sticking their fingers in when it was used on the exhibition stand - DUrrrrrrr - short term memory problems ??

it also had a weber and T2 turbo attached for the exhibition - do you think they would have worked as well???

the weber yes... the turbo yes... for about 3 seconds. As for the amp etc, its alrite, im better off not going within 1,000m of them, with the intention of running a 314 degree cam on the road! lol. Im running the 286 with the aldon now. Will get bucket loads more torque. Completely rebuilt the engine, just worried about the compression ratio now... :( 11.5:1 :w00t: Oh dear. Ah well, strap it together and see what happens.

So the amp is in the box... mmmm... scurries off to the garage to hav a gander :shifty:

*edit* it isnt in the box, im a dont remember anything like it. I thought u were on about the dizzy when u said about it looking messed about with wires everywhere. Id expect its at yours somewhere, because the box has been in the same place untouched.
