if i want to take the car down to bare metal and start a fresh would shot blasting be an option or willit be to harsh

It will be fine if you go to a reputable company who have had experience of doing mini shells... which are known to warp when shot blasted if the presure is too high.

It will also punch through metal that's getting thin... so be aware that what looks solid... may be missing when it comes back.. but it's great if you're gonna be re-newing panels etc.
