Frustrating weekend really. Yesterday (Saturday) managed to finally finishing stripping an A-series gearbox I started stripping months and months ago, maybe even a year ago! I was hoping to use the 3rd/4th synchro from this box, but after finishing stripping it I realised I had lost the springs and ball bearings out of it, so that idea went out the window! Might use the springs and balls from the 1st/2nd synchro, as I have one spare.

The frustrating part came when I begun to change the camshaft over, and strip the Metro gearbox that came off the engine. Firstly, I managed to swap the cam over no problem. After that I measured the tolerances on the oil pump, which were close ish to the limits, so with a spare sitting on my workbench I decided to swap it over. Thats when I realised I hadn't ordered several gaskets, mainly those for the oil pump and the timing cover. So that put paid to my engine rebuilding over the weekend!

you just need sheets of gasket paper and a knife mate. Then you always have a backup. Think i ended up making my own for the water and oil pump.
