my mini suki project is underway!
Suki is a 1990 Checkmate and doesnt look to bad in this pic,but sadly she is pretty bad underneath and along the seams so she is undergoing a full resto with lots of new panels and an engine rebuild.
We will post progress pics as we go along!
PANELS:
SCUTTLE PANEL
2X SILLS
2X FRONT FLOOR
2X FRONT WINGS
FRONT PANEL
REAR LOWER REPAIR (BOOT HINGE PANEL)
SMOOTH OFF BOOTLID
PASSENGER SIDE DOOR
RESPRAY IN BLACK
ENGINE REBUILD
ALLEYCAT 8X13"
MIGLIA ARCHES
CUSTOM DASH
LIMITED EDITION MANIFLOW EXAUST
MK1 GRILL NEW CHROME
SUKI'S GONNA BE OFF THE ROAD FOR A FEW MONTHS BUT IT'LL BE WORTH THE WAIT!
STD MG Metro Head - unleaded conversion - 35.7mm inlet & 29mm exhaust valves
Engine block skimmed to 0.005" above deck height giving 10.5:1 compression ratio
Flat top low drag pistons, EN16T Crankshaft (Cooper) STD Con Rods
Minisport CA2 Camshaft timed straight up @ 106 degrees ATDC
Duplex Timing Chain & Sprockets
Mini Spares high - flow oil pump (NEW)
Modified Thermostat & Water Pump also small water pump drive pulley
Std Verto Clutch with new Friction Plate - Pre-engaged starter ring gear
Gearbox
The gearbox was stripped completely and inspected, it was found to be in very good condition, as you would expect from a unit that has covered just over 20,000 miles. The bearings on the main shaft were replaced as a matter of course, these are the ones most prone to failure. The other items such as selectors, syncromesh hubs, baulk rings, and the needle roller bearings between the main shaft and gears were all found to be in excellent condition. These were all cleaned and refitted. The diff was stripped a hardened pin fitted, along with a Central oil pick up pipe.
