Resto of my mini Suki

my mini suki project is underway!
Suki is a 1990 Checkmate and doesnt look to bad in this pic,but sadly she is pretty bad underneath and along the seams so she is undergoing a full resto with lots of new panels and an engine rebuild.
We will post progress pics as we go along!

STD MG Metro Head - unleaded conversion - 35.7mm inlet & 29mm exhaust valves

Engine block skimmed to 0.005" above deck height giving 10.5:1 compression ratio

Flat top low drag pistons, EN16T Crankshaft (Cooper) STD Con Rods

Minisport CA2 Camshaft timed straight up @ 106 degrees ATDC

Duplex Timing Chain & Sprockets

Mini Spares high - flow oil pump (NEW)

Modified Thermostat & Water Pump also small water pump drive pulley

Std Verto Clutch with new Friction Plate - Pre-engaged starter ring gear

Gearbox
The gearbox was stripped completely and inspected, it was found to be in very good condition, as you would expect from a unit that has covered just over 20,000 miles. The bearings on the main shaft were replaced as a matter of course, these are the ones most prone to failure. The other items such as selectors, syncromesh hubs, baulk rings, and the needle roller bearings between the main shaft and gears were all found to be in excellent condition. These were all cleaned and refitted. The diff was stripped a hardened pin fitted, along with a Central oil pick up pipe.

Sounds like your mini is gonna be wild! All it's missing is some The Mini Forum stickers hehe :thumbsup:

your doing all that work to the engine, then ur gonna put that massive exhaust on it??

i love the style of ur project, alleycats are one of my fav wheels

thoes wheels are mint... what the engine cc now? u had an over bore? im presuming it started life as a 998?


didnt the coopes come with EN40B cranks? or was that only a select few
