well. basically. the bit that comes off the handle that turns the lock doesnt line up. i got 2 pics. im assuming either the lock is wrong, or the bootlid is. but yeah. help me.
basically. do i need a new lid? or can i buy the locking mechanism separate. yeah im a bit hopeless at explaining this.

you put the plate on or the handle first?

also did you take them off the same car(either this or another)

im not entirely sure. when i got the car. there was that bootlid that he primed. and a red one that was rusty as...
so yeah i have no clue where the lock and handle has come from. i put the plate on the lock. but the plate doesnt line up inside the bootlid.

Well i had a look at mine, and i found i had the lock bit (not the handle) up the wrong war round. The flat edge goes at the bottom mate i think!

i had a go. no luck. i dont understand. are all bootlid lock plates like.. erm, is the hole off centre on all or them? arghhhhh so frustrating..

Heres a pic of the lock fitted to a 1986 boot lid, yours looks like the wrong lock for the boot lid as there are no holes for the 2 bolts to go in the edge

Is your boot lid a MK1?

yeah im guessing that. the bootlid must be wrong. cheers guys.
