Since i have modified my boot for a custom fuel tank, i need to relocate my battery.

Plan is to get a sealed optima red top, but may need to run a std wet cell batt until funds allow.

I know with a 'wet' battery it is a good idea to have it in a sealed box, with a vent to the outside of the car. Is this a legal/mot requirement?

Need to know, as im trying to get the car on the road for coombe, the less little jobs like this i can not do for the MOT but do later, the better.

Don't think there's any trouble having a bat in the car. Sure I've seen a pickup like that.

Could have been a dream though. Weren't enough zombies to be sure.

....damn, this post dosen't help much does it.

No I don't think there's any problem with having it inside the car. I've got a pickup and they have their battery behind the drivers seat. As long as it's secured in place I think it'll be okay.

Ditto with Clubby Estates, under the rear seat on a plastic tray.

I've done similar in the cabrio, put a flat boot floor in so a different type of exhaust can be fitted, at the moment I've just got the battery stuck in the middle but was considering putting two race batteries, one in each of the companion bins.... aslong as they are securly mounted I dont see it being a problem.

There is no problem at all and don't let the mot tester tell you there is.
Most public service mini buses are like that.just secure it and cover it.

As long as its a sealed unit you'll be fine, If they have the caps to top up the electrolyte it'll need a breather to the outside as they can fill the cabin with ammonia (I believe) and in some cases cause the battery to explode.

Yeah, as above, as long as it's secured in place it's OK.

Mainly Hydrogen (though you sometimes smell rotten eggs due to the sulphur in the acid).... and yes the gas can explode, the battery is not likely to unless exposed to extreame impact or overheating/charging.
