Plan is to get a sealed optima red top, but may need to run a std wet cell batt until funds allow.
I know with a 'wet' battery it is a good idea to have it in a sealed box, with a vent to the outside of the car. Is this a legal/mot requirement?
Need to know, as im trying to get the car on the road for coombe, the less little jobs like this i can not do for the MOT but do later, the better.

As long as its a sealed unit you'll be fine, If they have the caps to top up the electrolyte it'll need a breather to the outside as they can fill the cabin with ammonia (I believe) and in some cases cause the battery to explode.
Mainly Hydrogen (though you sometimes smell rotten eggs due to the sulphur in the acid).... and yes the gas can explode, the battery is not likely to unless exposed to extreame impact or overheating/charging.
