A) Anyone know of a good spray shop near(ish) to me that they can reccomend?
B) Never had a real respray done before, so how much (rough price range) is it likely to be for a 2 pack (standard Rover mini 30 Cherry Red) metallic?
Assuming either 1) fully prepped, or 2)not prepped by me at all?!

Also assuming that there's no body work to do, maybe aside from a *little* filler
Obviously it's going to vary wildly form person to person, but if you can tell me your experiences?

I work for a garage in weston-super-mare, the best garage for a good 100 mile radius, (mercedes approved etc etc).
I could provide you with a quote, I'd have to have a detailed description of exactly what was required, and see pics or even better the car itself.

Message me if interested.

Pete

hey thanks pete :D

I'm afraid I don't have any pics but it certinly isn't urgent! This is one of those things to get an idea about and start saving up for really :D

I kinda need to know that I'm aiming for an £600 job (for example), and to get a bit of focus to finish/aim for. It may be a lot ore than that - one guy here in taunton quote me over a grand if I did all the prep my self, two grand if he did it and over three if he also did the panel work! But I'm hoping that he was wildly off the mark.

I'll put some more details about the car on here tomorrow when I'm at work :D , but I guess I'm just after some one to say 'it'll very likely be about £300 - £500 if it's straightforward, or £450 - £1000 if it's a git..' or something like that.

Thanks for the info anyway - will be back tomorrow.... my bed is calling me..! zzzz....

... will be back tomorrow....

Well ok, I actually had to do some work instead of just browsing the forum all day! =] But now that I'm back to slacking off...

The car is in need of pretty much the whole front end's worth of panels, so I was planning to do that first, but after that there's a pretty nasty paint job and excess filler to get rid of. Having never prepped a car for paint before, I don't have any experience to draw on. But my basic plan was to strip it out and rub it all back as best as I could, and then get the spray shop to check it and/or finish prepping it to their standard.
I believe I've heard a few people saying that you should always get the spray shop to do the final finishing as if you have any problems with the finished product then that will be due to their efforts and not your own?

And then to spray the rolling shell in OEM rover mini thirty metallic red - whatever the code is.
Ideally the condition of the panels isn't going to be a concern for the body shop, as I will have already sorted that.

How does that seem?

Holley Autobodies on the Wellington Road roundabout before you exit Taunton - next to the Texaco Station and National Tyres.

£1200 for basic outside up to £2000 for whole body for pearlesent paint (this was after stripping the car to save spending money on them doing it).

£1300 for my new front end after slight prang- 1 wing, 1 front panel, grille, spots, trims, bumper, overiders, lights etc and respray + valleting.

Top thanks! That's what I was after...

I'm guessing the £1200 basic is standard non metallic?

Pretty much yes - who are you in real life by the way? We don't have many Mini 30s show up at the club... do you live near to Staplegrove Road?

Aha!

I've not actually been to any of the meetings yet! But I've been meaning to come along for some time now.. I found out about the club from Andy who works at A1 MOT centre, he MOT'd my car and worked some miracles on it a while after - top bloke. We chatted for ages about minis and the club but I've never gotten around to coming.

But I thought I'd put the club name in my details here because it sort of is the mini club I am local to!

MY names Fred King, I actually live just outside toytown now (near spaxton) and I drive the min everyday so you've probably seen it about? It looks nothing like a thirty anymore - it's lost it's mettalic cherry red and is now sporting a dodgy kind of Dr Pepper red with a wonky white stripe, front to back on the passengers side.

I did live in greenway road a couple (er...3 now) of years ago, right next door to greenway motors.

Hi, I live in Taunton and have a Thirty too! I get all sorts of work done by Tim Lang which is on the Wellington Road half way between Taunton and Wellington. It is a Morris Minor specialist mainly but also they also do a lot of mini restorations. It may cost a bit more than your budget but his work is top top quality.
good luck, hope you find somewhere!
